A year before graduating from Gustavus Adolphus College, Peter Nerothin, an alum of Epsilon Pi Alpha, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. He would go on to found an internationally recognized non-profit, Insulindependence, making it his life's goal to help people with diabetes lead healthy and active lifestyles. As an ultra-endurance runner and triathlete with diabetes, Nerothin has supported people with diabetes worldwide by breaking the stereotype they are inactive and unhealthy.

All proceeds from this event go directly to Insulindependence and its affiliate partner, Triabetes. We our proud supporters of Insulindependence, have a personal connection to its mission: multiple members of the Epsilon Pi Alpha Fraternity have had diabetes over the last decade.
